Siloed efforts regarding the governance of smart city technologies jeopardize their responsible and successful implementation. More specifically, the governance of smart city technologies must consistently address the following policy areas across the country:
- Equity, inclusivity & social impact
- Security & resilience
- Privacy & Transparency
- Openness & Interoperability
- Operational sustainability
To address these challenges, the project aims to advance the responsible and ethical use of smart city technologies in Saudi Arabia by deepening the engagement with and benefit from the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance (G20 GSCA).
Impact:
- Accelerate the adoption of responsible technology to make progress with the UN SDGs.
- Implement smart city technologies across the Kingdom for more inclusive, secure, and sustainable cities.
Goals:
- Innovation-Friendly Procurement Model Policy assessment questionnaire embedded in the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance Benchmarking Tool.
- A roadmap to implement a set of foundational policies for more ethical, responsible Smart Cities in alignment with the work done by the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance.
